They would council the patient on the risks of VBAC and encourage the c-section. If the patient came in complete they would call in the 'crews' (anesthesiologist and surgeon) until the woman delivered. They claim they are not able to do VBAC because they are a small rural hospital and do not have in house anesthesiology or surgeons. Claim that not having these puts baby at risk.

Sad thing is there are VBAC

Sad thing is there are VBAC friendly care providers at this hospital, the hospital is the problem… 

 

I would love to know who.

When I wanted to vbac I was told flat out no.  Never even told I had a choice in the matter—like the option of going to another hospital right up the road that allows them.  If there are cp’s who are supportive, then why aren’t they speaking up?
